Woman
Anne Brady 1954
I am a woman, intelligent, loving and forgiving.
I speak my mind when I feel I have to let the world
know where I stand.
You call me stupid, mean, nasty when I disagree with you.
You tell me I should know my place.
You seem to think my place is behind you seen,
but not heard.
My place is beside you as your equal.
If a man stated his opinion you would praise him as thoughtful.
If a man disagreed with you would listen.
If a man worked hard, you would call him ambitious,
a real go-getter.
If a woman works hard, she’s arrogant, a bitch.
That’s what life is like in a so-called man’s world.
