RODAN
In the Rockin’ Rollin’ 1950s
Came a very evil man,
Killing more than forty-five
He signed himself Rodan.
The first, a woman named Betty
With raven hair down her back,
Rodan struck from the shadows
Killing Betty with an axe.
Then came Sarah, Cerille, Hilly
All within a few short weeks,
Still the police were in the dark
With no clue of whom to seek.
Deborah, Sally, and Suzanne
All were killed in fifty-five,
Lucille, Amanda, Elizabeth
Not a witness left alive.
In fifty-six the death toll mounted
Ten, fifteen, then on near twenty,
Hetty, Doreen, and blonde Glenda
Ending that year with teenage Wendy.
In fifty-seven he almost faltered
Nearly caught in a police blockage,
Hours after letting his car through
They realised the mistake made.
From then on he took more care
Killing none till 1960,
A redheaded woman named Terri
And her daughter fair, named Trixie.
Then the killing didn’t stop
But for twenty years went on,
Till the death count was near fifty
Then as suddenly Rodan was gone.
Through the 1980s and early ‘90s
Nothing more was heard of Rodan,
Things went back to normality
Like before his reign began.
For thirteen years nothing more
Was heard from the evil man,
And hopes began to elevate
We had seen the last of Rodan.
But then responding to a barb
Published in the local papers,
Rodan return from hiding out
To recommence his evil capers.
But he was much older now
And it seems far less wise,
Than when his reign began
Way back in 1955.
Soon Rodan stumbled
Seen leaving the killing site,
The police engaged in high pursuit
Way out into the darkened night.
For kilometres they gave chase
With choppers whirring o’erhead,
Rodan’s evil reign was ending
And soon he would be dead.
His racing car missed a bend
And went flying into the night,
And for just a moment it seemed
As though his car could fly.
Then down it came with a crash
Followed by a fiery explosion,
And after nearly forty years
Rodan’s reign, at last, was done.
THE END
