THE RUNNER
The runner's coming fast your way
He races through the horrid night,
Chasing down the slow or lonely
Running 'neath a blood moon's light.
Like an Olympic distance runner
He keeps going hour after hour,
As if fatigue is unknown to him
Or he has some strange superpower.
Carrying a blade within a cane
He races on through the darkness,
Hoping soon to pass a walker
Whom he'll put to eternal rest.
The Runner is a loathsome thing
He's never running under the sun,
He only goes out in the moonlight
Hoping to bring another life undone.
Swishing with his lethal blade
Even while he is on the run,
He kills another young innocent
Just to have his monstrous fun.
The awful streets are his home
And after twilight is his time,
For running through the foul night
Hoping a victim soon to find.
He seeks out loners passing near
Because it is their time to die,
His cane thrashes as he's running
Vanishing quickly into the night.
THE END
