Wake Up!

Early one morning when the sun was out
I was laying in my bed
Troubled about the things I had missed
    while sleeping instead

I took a book and started to read,
    maybe free up my mind
but all my troubles soon increased.
There is more to worry I find !

So I watched TV and listened to the news
    and found more problems there
as people are killed and countries fight
    over nonsense everywhere

So I returned to my bed to dream,
dream of beauty, love, and life
maybe I will fall in love someday
    and find myself a wife

Have children and watch them grow
    and be filled with happiness
because all the troubles in the world
    are nothing but foolishness

NOW get out of bed and plan your life
    with every pleasure around
because no matter what horrors you see,
    there is always beauty found.

About this poem

We are constantly fed negative news, but we should filter and appreciate the beauty life has to offer.
