Up high in a tree

Ethan Duarte 2004 (Oregon)

Sitting high in a tree
above the clouds where no one can see

The wind blowing in my hair
as I breathe in the refreshing air

Looking at the clouds below
I see a plane slowly fly right on by
I wave at the plane below a friendly hello

Sometimes it can be lonely
sometimes it can be sad
but it's not all bad
you can see the world from below

I'm all alone nothing but the leaves blowing in the wind and that's just fine
for I love this tree of mine.

    Feedback:
This poem has a lovely and peaceful vibe that really immerses the reader in the experience of sitting high in a tree. The imagery of the wind blowing in the hair and the view of the clouds and plane passing by creates a sense of solitude and appreciation for nature. The simplicity of the poem also adds to its charm.

    Improvement suggestions:
To enhance the poem further, you could consider adding more sensory details to really transport the reader into the scene. Descriptions of the sounds, smells, and feelings of being up high in a tree could make the experience even more vivid. Additionally, you could experiment with varying the rhythm and rhyme scheme to add some musicality to the poem. Overall, great job with capturing the peaceful beauty of being up high in a tree!
