pluto

a clock, turning
endlessly, churning the
waves that move us all.

a pendulum, dashing
to and fro, between the
states of birth and death.

an endless hunger for
progress, always
hindered by comfort.

this is the air we breathe.

the lifeblood of humanity
revolves in these two spaces.

we are the clock,
the pendulum,
the hunger beneath.

push and pull,
to and fro,
yearning and release.

a strange life, to be human.

righteous and monstrous!
we are sentient battlegrounds,
littered with carnage and rot.

the sun-bleached bones that
occupy our minds?
they're reminders of the greater good!
can't you see that?

as your eyes water,
and your throat closes,
the stink of progress surrounds you.

there's the ebb;
moving backward ever so gently!
always to return to flow.
