A Pipe Dream?

About this poem

Hashish is a drug made by processing and compressing trichomes of the cannabis plant, known in some places as marijuana, ganja, or “the weed,” and has a long history, its first recorded attestation found in a pamphlet published in 1123 CE, in Cairo, Egypt, in relation to Nizan Muslims as being “hashish-eaters.” While it is contended that hashish has both positive and adverse effects, what is known scientifically is that hashish is a potent drug, containing very high concentrations of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), and has been defined and assigned by the United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, since 1961, with a legal status as a prohibited drug in some countries. For some individuals, hashish has been considered a pipe dream. Others have claimed, more optimistically, that hashish is, and should be recognized, as a piper’s dream.
