Sentimental

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Nonexistent aware consciousness.
And this limited in concern.

'Your thoughts?
They seem to be growing,
Each day to become more sentimental.
What is it about your life,
That has stirred up your understanding?
As if something has happened to you,
Done to do to finally learn!'

I am learning a forgiveness to give it.
Has nothing to do,
With my reminiscing to forget.
All the foolish things I accused on others.
I allowed myself to permit.

'Oh!
So...
Why have you become,
So dreary and sentimental over that?'

'I now realized,
My consciousness not to be aware of it.
Had been limited in concern,
Of my own foolishness...
Others permitted to allow.
Without admitting I had been the fool.'

'Well...
Just forgive yourself.'

'That I would do.
But who today,
Could I depend upon to forget...
My refusing to deny,
I had nothing to do...
With accusations to claim,
Them to be fools.'

'Snap out of it.
Feel grateful to be aware these days,
All of us have been made fools.
And no one including you,
Should accept to appreciate...
The doing of it right in front of our faces!'

'Thank you.
I thank you for that.'

'Why?'

'I had been feeling guilty!'

'About what?'

'Starting a trend,
I had no intention to begin!'

'And...
Well,
If it was revealed to be discovered...
You originated foolishness.
Accompanied by ignorance.
Then how would you feel?
Responsible and honored?'

'Of course!
Who wouldn't?
I can be foolish.
But I am certainly not stupid!
What innovative pioneer,
Has not first been regarded as an idiot?'

'You know,
There are those times that come to us...
We allow to nourish,
Our own continuing mental issues.
To not stop and self examine,
What it is we do to ourselves first.
Without a clue or hint of it.'

'So glad I am not to be,
One of those people.
That's absolutely crazy.
God knows how strong my...
MY...faith...my faith...
Gee. What is the word,
I am searching for?'

'How about...IS?'

Thank you.
And yours is too, right?
Huh?

Huh?'

'I heard you.
But I'm doing all I can not to respond!'
