Unknown Flowers

the crack between two towering cliffs
in which i walk till day is done
leaves room by side for only one
for oftentime the cliff walls shift

a beam of brightness weaves a web
high above the ground i walk
so see, more there than just the talk
more to the journey than in my head

and lo! a blooming dafodil
but colored more than yellow's shine
it's crazed light calls out to mine,
a memory of a windowsill

my hands reach out, a phantom glance
and with no more control i grab
to take what nobody can have
to seize for ill the stars that dance

and with a rumble the walls fall down
whilst roots of flower old come up
the greatest walls they crush and rub
till rubble is the passage' crown

i stand in light once again to pass
and turn my head from where i stood
to heal, a stoic hero would
but i turn my head from the looking glass.
