Ceaseless Labor
Stark. Bare.
Traces of tobacco hid
among the folds of dingy cloth
draped to conceal the morning light.
Eyeing it's rays
She stood,
Back arched.
Tufts of bluish-black
pendulate in the sweltering heat,
Concealing lucid dark browns
noting details.
Smile uncurved, unyielding
fastened to a time gone by.
Parched cellophane limbs
protrude from formless frocks
garnished by sweat, dirt, and time.
Knotted fingers shackled to the hot press,
Back and forth
Back and forth.
Ceaseless labor,
Thankless labor.
