Pity You

Tamilla Baghirli 2005 (Baku)

You washed your dreams away in tides of distant agony
With careful strikes, you drowned your glory.
Now, even your nightmares fear what they find in you -
All the things your light denied to be true.
And if your fire could, it would long for air to breathe,
Instead, you deemed it helpless,
You watched it dim.
But treasure its ashes,
For despite repeating crashes,
Your faith will beg comfort
To return
All the love it ought to burn.
