An Ode to my Mother
You hold my hand and take me through the crowd.
You cover my ears when the screams get too loud.
You hold me close and hug me tight.
You make sure that I don't see the blinding light.
You shield me and protect me from the world,
You ease me into it so I don't have to suffer.
You prepare me and teach me everything you know.
You walk with me until it's finally time to let go.
I trust you more than I trust myself.
That's because you are someone who knows me better than I know myself.
I don't have to ask for anything, you just seem to know it.
You pull me up before I fall into my darkest pit.
You have sacrificed so much for me and I could not possibly repay you.
I really don't have to and you make it seem true.
I am definitely not saying this enough but this is what my heart feels for you.
Love. Nothing but unconditional love.
I may argue and be a brat but that's only till you pay attention to me.
Till you see that I love you just as much as you love me.
I may seem annoying and I really am.
But that's only to show you the feelings of my heart which were left untold.
Loving a person as much as I love you will be impossible.
That's because you are someone who is irreplaceable.
You were, you are and you will always be my role model.
I'll hold your hand for as long as I can.
I'll cherish these memories for the rest of my life.
No matter where I am or what I am.
I will always be your beloved child.
