Confrontation
Fog and darkness fill the night
There are no traces left of light
I wait for God to show His might
But where, O where, Lord, is the light?
Still in the dark I lie in wait
For the moon, but it is late
As the sky is blackened with hate
The moon, the moon, is very late!
As I open the door and look through there,
Unrelenting darkness thickens the air
The blackness bleaker than any nightmare
The feeling slowly gave way to despair
I hasten through the rooms and try to find
The light that is lingering in my mind
But will I ever be satisfied?
This confrontation has left me blind
Wandering through the darkened halls
I try to search for the cause of it all
But this only gives way to a bigger enthrall
Why am I captured by it all?
It becomes more clear that this is my life
Wasted for years on anger and strife
This thought is like being impaled by a knife
The raw emotion is nothing but rife
I look up from the terror and abruptly see
A person in the mist, looking at me!
My heart is beating rapidly
Let’s have a look at who caused this, shall we?
This is the time for me to fight back
I march up to the guilty and give them a smack
They hit the floor with one, loud thwack
How does it feel to lie on your back?
I survey the scene with a satisfied grin
The person lying there, small and thin
Contented, I consider this a win
Until I look closer and see my reflection.
