The Piet
Katty Ianca 1970 (Constanta)
The pier
I put aside at times… a word,
Wrapped in my mind, I leave it there,
I watch across the pier some bird,
The breeze is playing in my hair...
I write about this now and here,
A walk of mine around the bay…
I’m at the beach and on the pier,
Fishermen wait for catch of day...
A drunken man is now just talking,
To anyone… who’s got an ear,
Shadow of mine ahead is walking,
He smells like cigarettes and beer.
There is a couple… so in love…
They do not see, they do not hear,
The sun is shining from above,
Boats take the ocean, far they steer...
The small lagoon is more inviting,
For children playing with no fear,
My shadow and myself are walking,
I’m now ahead, shadow’s in rear...
I memorize at times a thought,
Born in my mind a verse is near,
And later on… a poem I wrote,
Walking my shadow on the pier...
