Left Behind

I awake this morning, with no delight,
Three years now, you are gone from my sight
The warmth of your presences, is still with me somehow,
Though in my dreams, is the only place I see you now.

Has it really been, over a thousand days?
They seem to have passed, in an emotional haze.
Difficult days are still closer, than farther apart,
Memories of you, daily fill my mind and heart.

Of all the futures, I thought I would see,
There was never one, where you left before me.
The pain some days, simply cannot be suppressed,
It claws its way to the forefront, and must be expressed.

My love for you, can never change
Overtime holidays may begin to feel less strange
The void you left, no one else will be able to fill,
I know and have accepted, that this too is God's will.

A blessing you were, to all you knew
Your guidance and advice, always so loving and true
You were sent as a gift, from the good Lord above
Epitomizing peace, grace, compassion and love.
