Rabbit Hole

I’m so tired of living like this… in this never ending hell
Ever so often there are those fantastic moments
Where I feel that normalcy has finally returned
As renewed waves of hope and motivation move me

But then I come across ghosts and demons of my past
That drag me back to times I fight so hard to forget
Ghosts and demons that drag me into a rabbit hole
Where scenes of my past play in a never ending loop

I stare fixated at them trying to find a clue
A single clue that could rescue me from this madness
Though regardless of how intently I keep searching
Every clue manages to slip through my finger cracks

The bIur of yet a thousand thoughts swirl around my head
Materializing into chains binding me down
Imprinting their fear into every layer of skin
Ripping off the scars of wounds that never fully healed

Screaming for help, the void around me is all they see
I desperately try to verbalize all of my thoughts...
But that void has its cloak so tightly wrapped round my neck
That all that can escape is a few whimpers and sighs
