A Cavalry, Charging
I suffered in Scotland and
went south to England
and suffered there so gave
up entirely and left for the United States
where I suffered in New York
in Queens and Long Island
and over the water in Connecticut
and down in Philadelphia
and Washington DC
I left parts of my soul in each
but bigger pieces as time went on
and by the time I stepped
foot on the new world
I had given my entire heart to a
beautiful brown eyed American girl
and wanted never again to say goodbye to her
or the skies under which she seemed to sail through the days and nights spent even without me
there's a home in the sky
and it has to be seen
to be believed
I went on
finding the world too much of a joyride
for one man I simply refused to die until
some hidden questions had been answered
which awakened a burning part of myself
but still I suffered onwards contemplating
too much man and moon and universe
I fell asleep in the dying
light of morning stars
the easiest prayers are
the silent ones but they're
the most trouble.
