Blue Eyes Crying

For an eon or two, I have sat upon the milky way, dangling my toes into the belt of Orion

I sway my feet through the dust that was created before my time, the soot collecting warmth against the cold deadness of space

To say I have lived atop the mountain top is to say that I have lived at all

A life, long past such things, as I enter a new millennium of simply being

-

As I sit perched against a new star, one created with special intent, I can’t help but let tears flow from me.

They dip into the celestial formations, dotting the sky with dashing streaks across the moonlit horizon

A foreign moon, encapsulating the essence of a thousand drips from my eyes

Persistent with the flow of a deep sadness, that does not waiver at the beauty of the galaxy

-

Once upon a time, I could feel the energy of the supernova, that hangs a mere thousand light years to my side

The birth of the giant was sudden when it achieved its ascension into the holy realm of celestial being

Burning hot for all to see, for all who dared to stare into the soul of its infancy

Blues and reds, yellows and greens, fire and soul

All escaping earnestly from its core, destined to touch its ever-reaching hand to any who float along the asteroid highway

-

I wanted to name the infant giant, to give its birth a significance in the relentless pages of time

For no one escapes the grips of father’s sandy pursuit

None can relish in pride upon his defeat, none can stop his persistent march

Past excursions have tried, only to fail, only to fall into dust of a long-forgotten time

-

Yet, I merely pass the child, letting it learn the ways of its future without intervention

Who am I to say what the present might change, who dare take a step without the future in mind

All roads of fathe’rs incessant tic and his toc, lead to the inevitable downfall of a simple man’s sanity

His halls of his past, grow ever more against the halls of my soul

Eternity, as they say

-

So, why then do I weep upon the asteroid belt

Why then do I mourn the death of my past, when the future holds no limits

The future seems bright upon the mantle of expanse, perched above my rug that holds only one

Meant for two

-

As I watch the precious infant explode into the heavens, twisting and turning its way into existence

I can’t help but imagine how one, could become two, only to fall back to one

Simplicity in its simplest form you might say

Complex in its desire, I might say

-

I wonder, as the ancients do, to what my future tic might hold

And as to what my toc my induce

The two are the same, yet, hollow in their essence

One and the other make two, take one away, and you end before you begin

-

So how do I perch myself upon the belt of Orion

Without the two

For I am merely one, my two, lost in his grips

Never to be seen, only in thought
