Menopause

Menopause

My husband doesn't love me.
My youngest one’s a brat.
No matter how I exercise,
my once thin thighs stay fat.

My job is wearing on me
My boss, -- he is a creep.
But mostly I’m just sick and tired
Of sweatin’ in my sleep.

The house is always dirty.
The dishes are never done.
It seems like I was thirty
Last time I had some fun.

And there’s not much in my future
That seems to catch my eye.
I think I’ll just start counting days---
Long days until I die.

Ya see I’m going through this change in life
And it isn’t very pleasant.
So I went to talk to my best friend---
And she just screamed at me--- "WHO ISN’T!”

About this poem

This poem was inspired by my little darling wife. We were discussing my brother--- who's wife was all out of sorts. I told my wife that he was blaming all her troubles on going through menopause. And that sweet little darling of mine turned to me and said--- "And just who the fuck isn't" Now that, is pure inspiration.
