Pie n' a Pint

When all the days work is finished and done,

there's just one thing that carries me on,

pie n' a pint and your very best ale,

pie n' a pint and I'll tell you a tale.

In ancient Egypt they started to fight,

when the hops were stolen one cloudless night,

Beershimi tribe thieves stole Pharaoh's best brew,

of the old 'beer worship' that's oh so true!

Now in ancient Rome they may have drunk wine,

but Boudicca drank beer all of the time,

so when Ceasar fermented the luscious red grape,

Iceni resolved to lick him into shape.

Now whilst it's true that the Vikings drank mead,

Wessex were shocked; it's against our creed!

we only want beer; so the Vikings went to war,

the whole lot were slaughtered and never seen no

more.

When all the days work is finished and done,

there's just one thing that carries me on,

pie n' a pint and your very best ale,

pie n' a pint and I'll tell you a tale.

About this poem

What if the whole of history could be re-written as a beer brewers folk tale?
