Precognition

I knew
My restless thoughts
At last came in handy

I knew
No matter how much
I tried to ignore them
No matter how much
I tried to convince myself otherwise
I knew

It wasn’t fair-
Life wasn’t fair

I don’t mind that you turned me down
On the contrary,
I knew it would happen

What hurt was,
Your laughter

Something that once stole my breath away
Made me forget how to catch my breath

Being turned down didn’t hurt,
Because I knew

What hurt was your laughter
A teasing that I’m not used to,
That I didn’t expect

That
I didn’t know
