soul memory
sitting in silence upon a moss covered log
i find myself with my eyes closed
imagining a girl with speckled green eyes
eyes the colour of the forest green trees
that gently sway with me in the breeze
breathing in the damp smell of the earth
i listen to the sounds of the tender coloured leaves
as they rustle in the puffs of wind that blow by
the girl becomes a long forgotten memory
as i hear the birds calling out to one another
and twilight approaches and perspectives change
as the shadows create a sacramento setting
i listen to the sounds of grasshoppers and crickets
as they awaken for the night
i hear them calling out in search of a perfect match
the sacará beetles joining in
as i feel the droplets of rain on my skin
and the wind blowing through my hair
i feel the moss beneath my fingers
and the lush grass between my toes
i hear frogs calling out to one another
as they leap from branches to lush green leaves
i smell the rain upon the forest ground
and hear the animals reach for shelter
but I remain sat upon my moss covered log
while water seeps into my clothes
and takes a foothold in my soul
i taste the droplets upon my tongue
i taste the sweetness of the storm brewing
scenting the petrichor in the air
the scent too pure to be bottled
i breathe in the smells of musk and bark
and the air has never been so pure
my lungs never experienced anything so crisp
i find myself thinking of those pine green eyes
but even her serenity cannot compare
so i let the pain of her be swept up in the gale
for this verdant forest is alight
with more than what humanity can describe
more than what people can be
within this atmospheric haze i only feel peace
in solitude i have created my own moments
and so my soul sighs with thanks
About this poem
This poem is simply about a memory. A memory that made my me feel and touched my very soul. This poem lacks precise grammar because it is not about what is being read but rather how it makes a person feel. This poem hopes to be an experience not story
