Deep Shadows

Caught, imprisoned, for crimes most severe,
           though no proof exists,
                    no trial, no charges are held.
Of rabbits or whiskey I can not complain,
            punishment most lenient I have received,
                     for Treason, most obvious.
Walk not in my footsteps,
             for my jailors will make you,
                      scream from the darkness, as have I.
