Too Late

I know it hasn’t been much time,
but lately I’ve been stuck in my mind.
Confused on whether I made the right decision
Or if it wasn’t supposed to be mine.

I know to some this is a waste of time,
but lately you’ve been the only one
that's been worth my time.
Some say I’ve been filling my life with
lies so I wouldn’t have to cry during the
night time.

I fight my will to die, with the passion
I have to survive in a world that's been
fighting to keep my kind away from
what some people call a world that's
one of a kind.
I know this doesn’t fit under “Too Late” ,
but listen to what I’m gonna describe.
I was too late to fight for what I thought
was right and then time slipped right by.
by the time I noticed I lost the one person
that really cared about my life at the time.

I fight to show that those times when he
was alive wasn’t a waste of time. I say this
with pride and tears coming out my eyes
because I refuse to break before my mother’s
eyes.
Let’s move back in time so i can really grab
your ears and eyes. I’ve fought, fight and I’m fighting
till i can finally ask “ are you proud dad.”
If so, grant me one request which is to show me a sign.

I've been through a lot in my life even though I'm still young i grew up at such a young age I had no other option. I grew up mostly poor but we did what we could. Writing has been my escape from the world for the past 2 years and its helped me an unbelievable amount helping me get through my fathers death and loss of several friends due to gun violence and drugs writing has helped me from myself at some point as well. without writing I'd possible be laying on asphalt with them and I thank myself everyday for changing because if i never changed i would never got to meet my 3 nieces that make me smile everyday and making my father proud. more…
