Second Street

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Darkness comes at noonday
And the darkness can be felt
Men gnaw their tongues
Because of all the hands they have been dealt

Chance is never random
It comes at appointed seasons
Christians being persecuted
But not without a reason

Satan laughs; he thinks he has gained
All that he desires
But God knows true faith
Must be salted with a little fire
