These Walls

Could it be the empty rooms ~
that made your voice sound different?
perhaps the echo off now bare walls,
Onerous to memories transient.....
Could it be St. Patricks Day ~
playing 'oer in my mind...
holding on ~last words to say,
For better times we pined.........

Could it be the longing
that transports over the phone?
the knowing, and the yearning -
to ne'er be alone....

Could it be we found our life~
there, on the third floor?..
You, my husband, Me, your wife...
wanting nothing more.

Could it be we're forever changed..
by a series of thought mistakes?
For what , our lives to rearrange,
will we do whatever it takes?

Could it be the empty rooms ~
echo their memories still?
reminding us of how we Loved
consoling to our will.

Could it be such time has passed
on closing Berry street together?
a brilliant shadow
on our hearts to cast ~
memories to last forever.

About this poem

A time spent when I thought I found my soul mate. Memories that the walls of this space hold onto.
