Pastoral of the Blue Ridge Country

Serenity of an open backyard
Unable to hear cars and bustle for miles
The wind is always calling through the trees
Pushing gently on the swingsets, making them creak

You may choose to lay down on the sleek grass
Listen to the animals play in the forest
The leaves crunch beneath their feet and yours
You may never meet, but you share this land together

No matter how far you wander from this, you'll remember the peace
You cannot easily neglect the hours spent dwelling here
The most comfortable silence you'll ever experience
Lying facedown, taking in the earth and breathing with it.
