The Charge of Pastors as Shepherds

The job of a pastor, priest, rabbi, imam, or lama is not an easy task, each religious leader being asked to humbly serve, following the divine will of God, who is the Alpha and the Omega. From the perspective of the Christian faith, the pastor is being asked to serve Jesus as Lord and Savior, to continue to follow the guidance of Saint Paul, an Apostle of Our Lord, Jesus the Christ. In the book of Jeremiah 3:15 of the Holy Bible, the Lord says that He will give shepherds after His own heart to provide their flock with guidance, with knowledge, and with proper understanding. As believers in a divine God as the Father of humanity, we are reminded that we are all children of God and, therefore, as members of His family, are asked to love Him, even as He loves us; and to be our brothers keepers. In keeping with the month of October as National Clergy Appreciation Month, a celebration that was established in 1992, with its mission of uplifting and encouraging pastors, missionaries, and religious workers, this poem is written to honor all who serve the church, the synagogue, the temple, or the mosque, in their effort to serve God in unity and in fellowship, with one accord (Zephaniah 3:9).
