Unraveling Secrets

I let you in and then what?
With no consent, you pushed right through.
You have seen what cannot be unseen.

A version of myself; prying eyes have yet to linger.
Here you are, in the far depths of my mind.
Unraveling these secrets meant to be kept hidden.
The shambles of my life; seemingly disproportionate.

I let you in and the truth slipped out.
A truth so unbearable, even I stumble.
Spiraling down into a place not meant to be traveled.

I'll shut my heart out, but it won't be enough.
You'll take hold of it and tear me asunder.
Once a critical memory; gone without a trace.
There's no room here for a loving embrace.

I let you in and I gave up instantaneously.
With no walls to build, I stood defenseless.
You held onto my heart too tightly.

Only a few pieces are left of me.
Here you are, stealing every little bit.
Unraveling these secrets I just can't seem to keep.
Shackles around my feet; agonizingly uncomfortable.

I let you in and I will never be the same....
