Home
Bewildered, confused above anything else, lost
There is only darkness
Beyond what I see
A road only lit by a single light post
I can't remember the past;
The past thirty minutes that is
Time flies by so fast
Still the night is what the world came to be.
Crashed cars, smoke everywhere
I saw no one, not a single soul is near
Has the rapture come
I need to get home
Stumbling, I can't really feel my legs
No matter I must go
Where has everyone gone
I look at my phone:
December 1
It was eerily quiet
Like the ghostly graveyard
The town looks like a riot
The road home is too far
Going down the alley
I saw this man, tall, maybe a burglar
Trying to stab me like a psycho
He got me, but I was lucky
I lived for another day
Blood was dripping but I am okay
My hands felt cold and chilly
Maybe because it's that time of the year
Back home, my family, my friends
This day is evoking my fear
I look at my phone again:
December 5
I've been walking 4 days straight
What a time to be alive!
I continued until December 8
Yet still, I was far from home
By my will, I continue to roam
The days get increasingly longer
I await my long deserved slumber
Fifteen days and still no soul in touch
I'm no people person myself
But I indulge my self to such
A little company wouldn't be bad
Especially them fresh blood
Can't remember the last meal I had
All I need is to get home
Finally! Some people I see from afar
Though they're running away
I must catch up to them, I must
I remember the warmth before I woke up
Hot coffee and blankets
Books in hand reading Harry Potter
Soaking my feet in boiling hot water
How I long for my wife
Wondering about her whereabouts
December 20
When I get my coco I'll have them plenty
This travel is too long
Growing impatient by the minute
I crossed the mountains
Just to get to those people
There they were or so I thought
But it's another group of people like me
I find myself humming as I walk
As these people don't really like to talk
Though, they make a really great company
I don't mind them near
The more the merrier, right?
We continue on up till the night
It's past Christmas already
December 30
I'm getting thirsty
Down the river, I'm sure they crossed here
Many of us were lost crossing
We don't have time to mourn
Fifteenth day or so, I can't count
The people I saw before
They're close by I can hear them
They're just across this huge ravine
They look like the most beautiful I've seen
So white and clean
I see a lot of backpacks
Hikers look like that I believe
I've got to go to them, but I'll eat first
The man who stabbed me
Was super tasty
I've got no time to spare
Does it look fine
Is there something on my hair?
I take my mates and go
I start to hum-
I am excited
My wife must be among them
Gotta look good for once
Surely enough I see her there
Stunning looks
Perfect body and skin
And golden locks of hair
She sees us and her companions
They were startled
They weren't expecting guests
We look horrible, I guess
I see her with tears
Running down in her cheeks
Hugs me tight
Haven't seen her in weeks
Her companions got mad
And said I don't belong
I think they're wrong
Mountains, rivers, crossed them all
Just to meet her
She said something
I didn't hear her quite well
My blood boiled at the sight of her friends
I'm not me when I get hungry
My wife tried
But she couldn't stop us
I can't stand being put down
Ripped them to pieces
Each limb for my own companions
I relished the brutality I caused
Lost in the moment
I had just realized
She hugs me and says it's alright
Settled down but I just might
Can't see her face
Blurred beyond recognition
This voice isn't hers, I know that well
Do you think I'll be foolish enough?
You're not her but just another person
I was wrong to even come
She wouldn't let go
So I put a hole in her chest
It felt so satisfying
There's blood everywhere
They had so much
I just started munching
Been walking so far I gave in to my hunger
Stumble, shuffle, groan, roar
When will I find my home I wonder
Until then, I'm hungry and I'm coming for more.
