What I wish my mother had told me
Little one, don't you know?
You must reap what you sow,
don't let life get you too low;
Little one, don't you know?
Little one, don't you know?
You will get older and you will grow,
don't be afraid, I'm never letting go;
Little one, don't you know?
Little one,don't be scared,
for all the worry is just in your head.
I'll hold you all night when you crawl in my bed;
Little one, don't be scared.
Little one, don't be scared,
you'll never have to wonder if I cared;
God knew what he was doing when we were paired.
Little one, don't be scared.
Little one, don't be too shy,
there's still kindness in this world though its hard to find.
Think before you act and be sure to take your time;
Little one, don't be too shy.
Little one, don't worry about what you've done;
For a mothers love doesn't have to be won.
My love for you could never be undone,
little one, don't worry about what you've done.
Little one, don't worry about life;
It'll all come to you in its time.
Have lots of fun but don't lose your mind;
Little one, don't worry about life.
Little one, you won't grow up like me,
for my love you have to plea;
My heart is locked and you hold the key,
little one, you won't grow up like me.
About this poem
I wrote this poem to say these things to my inner child, to let her know that everything will be okay. I was inspired by the thought of my future children and how I want them to know love above all else.
