Pearls of Wisdom

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Just a moment or a breath in time,
But never once again.
My enemies I will not find,
But only there my friends.

Welcome to the afterlife!
Through gates that now stand open!
The pearls of wisdom freely shared
Is what we put our hope in!

We gathered up our treasures
And we send them on ahead.
We rejected thoughts of unclean sex
And purified our beds.

We did not eat their food
Or sit at tables with the mockers.
We chose rather to let them say:
That we were off our rockers.

But look and see who’s laughing now;
As they had often done.
We put our faith in Jesus Christ
And now we’re having fun!
