Before You Love Me
I tried to write you a love letter motivated by the way you think. I’m infatuated with your mind and inspired by how you overcome your struggles. I love that you never lost your wild side even though you made it out the jungle. I wish you could see you from my eyes so you could see the light I see. I don’t want to fall asleep, I don’t want to even blink and miss a thing. I want to cater to your hustle, I want to love on all your muscles: your mind, your body & your soul. If you let me in your heart can you show me slowly how to take it, teach me how to love you so I can promise I won’t break it. If you let me stick around, I will caress what you think is flawed, show you that a lotus blossoms from the mud. All your silent victories can now be celebrated out loud, no matter the size, no matter your pride, I want to be down for the ride. If I let you into my heart can you promise to keep me safe. Guide me and protect me so we don’t have to worry about our love being at stake. Listening to one another without judging, encouraging each other through all life's obstacles, wipe away my tears and help me overcome my fears. If I let you into my heart I swear no one can take your place & If you let me into your heart, I know my affection can be a lot, I won’t stunt, but I’m a blessing so be careful with what God sent you because I can never be replaced.
About this poem
I wrote this poem for someone who I met and felt an instant connection and inspiration. This person had a very difficult past and is still going through trails and tribulations. This person feels unworthy of being loved and can not see their value. I wanted them to know they are inspiring and worthy of love, prosperity and abundance.
