Pressure to be Perfect

Photos and  the mirror on the wall convey your imperfections and all.

Coping with societies pressure to be perfect; via surgery, orthodontics, diet, or filler, are options likely to be long haul.

Digital filters, baggy clothing and heavy make up are more realistic but also a trawl.

This image crisis makes you feel low and anxious in that when looking in the mirror you feel like a bawl.

Ultimately all you want to do is hold your head up high and say I am OK what’s your call.

Yet you are screaming why can’t society accept less than perfect and stop this, so everybody can walk tall.

About this poem

This poem describes the image crisis that plagues many women in todays society. It describes the lengths women go to maintain the perfect image but also the feelings of frustration that it should not be this way.
