The Room
The Room.
She sits in a corner in her forgotten world,
Through the flickering sunlight memories are stirred,
Days as a child not sure how far gone,
Alone with her thoughts to share with no one.
Days by the sea and summers long,
Skipping through the waters singing a child's song,
Her mother calls out for strawberry ice cream,
She runs across golden sand holding onto her dream.
She lays on soft blanket now sweetheart by her side,
The old familiar harbour so calm stretches wide,
Her own children play with sand and ball
Her eyes without life open, to stare at the wall.
In her garden of Eden, time she loved to spend,
The smell of fresh cut grass, to the block shed at the end,
Covered in white trellis sweet pea all in bloom,
Her Prince sits by her side, but reality now is this room.
"Oh holy night" every Christmas eve,
She would sing from her heart truly believe,
To your choir in heaven Lord, a place truly deserved,
Her soulmate there with you, next seat is reserved.
Celtic music plays in this room filled with like,
A hornpipe, a jig she would dance with delight,
She raises a smile as her feet tap the floor,
Oh to lead out the line of Celtic dancers once more.
So quick so sudden her mind was shut off,
Like the flick of a switch, life in the presence is gone,
But now and then she answers, a loved ones voice,
The switch flicks to off,she has no choice.
On a midsummer evening dusk moving in,
Sun departs the day scented stock fills the air,
A Blackbird sings softly raising her heart
Back in the room ,not song, but silent despair.
Nine years of voided memories and a pennance endured,
Nine years locked in prison no crime ever done,
No judge no jury for this sentence carried,
Not guilty our Lord, to your heaven bring home .
