In The Fields

In the fields of grain,
She walks barefoot and nonchalant.
Unstoppable, like a sudden rain,
She knows what she wants.
Wearing a summer dress, white as snow,
She dances with the wind that blows.
Nearly high noon,
She will be home soon.
Dancing with each breath,
She knows what she’s left.
Her brunette hair blowing in the air,
Glowing soft brown, unwrinkled skin,
Her spirit soaring, flowing within.
She walks deeper in the fields then quietly disappears.

About this poem

Image of a woman walking in the fields came into my mind. The fields represent life’s journey. She is heading to another part of herself, she is heading home ( wherever that may be) and not necessarily into oblivion.
