The Other

What black is to white
What dark is to light
What day is to night
A world that loves pairs

A wordless haiku
Or paint with no hue
A sky with no blue
They're in need of each other

You are the one
And I am the other
No worthwhile story
Has only one lover

About this poem

I wrote this for person who is special to me. The idea behind it being that there cannot be a love story without a pair. The world is made up of pairs that we simply cannot separate. As alone – they are incomplete.
