Wonderful Father
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
I can see the cross and I can see the rain.
But what I can’t see is a reason to complain.
You’ve given us everything we’ve ever needed.
You gave us your Son and your work He completed!
I can see the lightning and I can hear the thunder.
But when I do, it just makes me wonder.
With a power so great and an arm that’s so strong,
How could you ever let things go so wrong?
But then I remember that love can’t be forced.
You made everything good and we chart our own course!
It is not your fault when our lives are wrecked.
Who can keep us from harm, if your words we reject?
I see many men stumble and fall to their death;
Still misusing your name as they draw their last breath!
