My Sweet Betrayal
The sweet serenity, broken by the words
Of a person hurt, voice never heard.
Is the glass half empty? Or is it half full?
Does it push, or maybe does it pull?
Is the sand slowly dripping from the glass of time?
Or does it simply turn your heart to rime?
I had once believed you were my friend.
But now I see the truth to the very end.
Now I walk with myself alone in time.
Very little rhythm, a whole lot of rhyme.
I push forward with such a small amount of trust.
My heart and mind have been turned to rust.
You hurt me in a way I can’t forget.
Now every conversation with me is a bet
Of whether or not I can keep myself calm.
Whether their words are curses or psalms.
The confusion, I believe, is what hurts the most.
It grinds me into a halt when I really want to coast.
Tell me what I have done to deserve this?
What is it that I have possibly missed?
Or maybe it was you that needed help.
Each word left me a mental welt.
It has made my life just so painful.
Why have you done this, my sweet betrayal?
