Eternal Dwelling

Aaron Kirby 1982 (Dallas, TX)

The living quarter is cramped,
With a scent of soil and time,
It is constantly damp,
No porch to hang a chime,

With only one way in,
And only one way out,
No roof made of tin,
But a home, no doubt,

The plot of land is small,
Enough for a few flowers,
You can’t see summer or fall,
Your existence it devours,

So when the time arrives,
For your eternal rest,
Death has prepared your confines,
In your new home, he is your guest.
