Petrified cocoon.

Once there lived a larva, born on a leaf carried in on the wings of a southern wind. As the leaf broke and took flight, the larva was denied the protection of the milkweed. Left to its own devices, the caterpillar spent its days avoiding predators.

When the time finally came for the caterpillar to create a cocoon, a meteorite struck the earth, plunging the world into a great ice age. In the chill of this everlasting winter, the caterpillar's metamorphosis into a cocoon was complete.

The cocoon would remain sealed until, years later, it was discovered by scientists. Questioning why the cocoon refused to open, they decided to cut it open, knowing it would cripple the butterfly.

But this butterfly had a dream, a mission, and a will to survive. Miraculously, when the scientists cut the cocoon open, the butterfly flew. It was a testament to the power of courage, strength, and determination.
