Intrusive

A buzzing swarm
Of thoughts invade
Never to rest,
Perpetually crafting,
Darting,
Zipping,
Whirling flight
Unfolding feelings
In ceaseless illumination.

A hum resounds,
Their wings in beat
Distraction constant,
Struggle to conquer,
Descend,
Ascend,
Twist,
And turn,
Mad frenzy
Yearning within me
Agitates.

So desperately
I crave moments
Still,
Yet bees persist,
Their patterns expert,
Buzzing in my ear,
Dancing in sight
Irrepressible force
That I can't battle.

Their stings inflict
No tangible harm,
Yet chaotic reminders
Cause anxiety.
I swat
And strike
To soothe
The hive
But their persistence,
I can't endure.

Their honey,
Sweet,
Doesn't outweigh
The torment
They bring.
My mind distraught,
So I let them swarm,
Until they decide
To leave me
In peace,
To no longer remain.

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication.
