Ghost

Do you ever hear of someone's  death
And wonder if you are next
Or see a funeral procession go by
And wonder if your next to die

Have you ever seen a Hertz
And wondered who
And if the next passenger will be you
View a graveyard all marble and stone
And know underneath is just skin and bone
The people weep
The crittters creep
Feasting upon the bodies deep

You think of life
The toil the strife
You think of your kids
And your loving wife

Do you still have time
To make this life divine
Or have you wasted it all
That’s such a crime

Before death comes for you
Can you still make all your dream come true?
Or in the end are you left a fool

Will it come quick
And unexpected surprise
Or will you have a slow suffering demise

Either way everyone dies

It will always be far too soon
It always is
Its always Doom

One day you wake
But dead you lay
And in the casket they put you away

He was so young
They will rage
Or will you live to a ripe old age

Your wife will cry
And wonder why
And you children will thank you
As they say goodbye

A life erase
He is in a better place
they will say
You helplessly  watch
As they pray

You hope you lived your life so well
You hope you are not on your way to hell

You wish to do it all over again
So much you would change
Its too late
It’s the end

Pastor preaches go to heaven now
But just then you realize you don’t know how

Lower into the groud
They all gather round
As the dirt thrown upon you
Silences Sound

You see the light
You run Away
And still are a ghost
To this very day.

I grew up traveling the country as my mother ran truck stops. I learned so much about this country and all the different yet wonderful people. I am grateful each day and hope I make everyone's day brighter....yet I write dark stories and poems. more…
