The World Still Misses Ginsberg
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
He saw the best minds
Of his generation
Destroyed
By madness,
Starving hysterical naked,
Screaming out
To a world that wouldn't listen,
Trapped in a cycle
Of pain and despair.
Their souls were like shattered glass,
Scattered
And broken
In the dark alleyways
Of their minds,
Walking the streets
With no destination,
Lost in a sea
Of confusion
And emptiness.
Their eyes were empty,
Their bodies wasted,
As they searched
For meaning
In a world
That had forgotten them.
They cried out for love
And connection,
For someone
To hold them close
And tell them
It would be alright,
But the streets
Were full of noise
And chaos,
And no one heard
Their desperate cries.
He saw the best minds
Of his generation
Destroyed
By the greed
And corruption
Of those in power,
Left to wither
In the shadows
Of a society
That valued
Material wealth
Over human life.
They were the outcasts,
The forgotten,
The ones deemed unworthy
By a world
That refused to see
Their worth.
But even in the depths
Of their despair,
They held onto
A glimmer of hope,
A flicker of light
That burned deep
Within them,
Pushing them forward
With every step.
And he knew
That even in the darkest corners
Of our world,
There was still a chance
For us to rise above
The chaos,
To find our way back
To each other,
And to the love
And compassion
That makes us
Truly human.
