Slaves of God
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Are we not under the Law,
But in being under grace;
God forbids a sinful flaw,
The Lord would never embrace.
Present yourself as His slave,
Obedient slave to be;
He will rescue from the grave,
When you are transgression free.
Because sin will lead to death,
Obeying for righteousness;
Gives life after the last breath,
When showing your faithfulness.
You were once a slave to sin,
Obedience from the heart;
Practiced corruption within,
And had caused you to depart.
But you are set free from sin,
Now a slave to righteousness;
With a new life to begin,
Righteousness to holiness.
No longer impurity,
That bonds you unto the dark;
Abolished iniquity,
Now in the light you embark.
