Thorns

Love is a sensation
That can be likened
To a rose.
It is beautiful,
Captivating,
And enthralling.
However,
Like the rose,
Love carries its own
Painful thorns.
It can bring joy
And contentment
But also,
In its beauty,
Bring agony
To those who dare,
To delve into its depths.

The agony of love
Is its shadow,
Inseparable
Yet contradictory.
Love can be a source
Of endless companionship,
Warmth,
And affection,
But it can also create
Unbearable pain
And loss.
The feeling of being alone
And disconnected
From the person you love
Can be oppressive,
Leading to heartache
And suffering.

But it turns our world
On it's axis.
And so we still love.
Every good thing
In this bleak world
Is fueled by it.
