"A Lonely Place"

Don't hide away locked up in a shell,
When deep down inside you are going through hell.
Why suffer in silence all on your own,
Such a lonely world when you are alone.

Living in darkness, Living in fear,
Can I get through another lonely year?
Shall I pop some pills and drink loads of beer?
Or ring the drug dealer to get more gear.

I can't cope with these voices inside my head,
Cutting myself until I bled.
Reaching out to the world screaming and shouting,
Come on please help me down of this mountain.

Day after day all by myself,
Like a book collecting dust on a shelf.
No friends, No family, No second chance,
People looking and  stirring with just a glance.

I am not a bad person deep down inside,
I have an illness and addiction that's taken my pride.
I cry out to the world please do not ignore,
Just give me a chance and open your door.

No need to sit in silence, No need to struggle with the pain.
Being alone will drive you "Insane"

About this poem

I wrote this poem to hopefully raise awareness... I lost my wife of 27 years together due to addiction to alcohol...Sadly my wife died aged 44 this left a empty space in my heart... The poem I have written is very powerful and touches the heart ... If my words reach out and help or save lives of others ...That would Speak volumes... Really hope my words make a difference...
