Ode To The Moon
Ode To The Moon
I watch you against the cosmic canvas
Traveling across the celestial scene
Longer than anyone can imagine
Slowly, softly and subtly
The soul companion
Of my home the Earth
As if in a dance
Your orbit in grayish silver
With the splendor of the Sun
Reflecting in the darkness
Walking with me
Wherever I go
Waking me to your dreams.
Up on high you glow ever so bright
Suspending my gaze and awe
Changing shape as you do
Waxing and waning gibbous
Crescent or in full bloom
So far away and yet
Close conversations with me
Still as silence speaks
Of your luminosity
I feel struck by you
Writing verses
In rippling light telling me
I am not alone tonight.
Where can such beauty as yours
Hide from melancholy eyes?
The face of full you
So round fills my face
With the echoes and ripples
Found only in your aura
Playing Beethoven’s sonata
Darkness seduces me
I am your captive audience
Your visible affections
Touch me like no other
Your company gives grace
Lighting my lonely world.
