Poverty In A Lonely Land
Poverty In A Lonely Land
Speaking gratitude into the silence
I thank God for smiling on a lesser being
My means to survive are shrunken
Every decent serving of sustenance
Reminds me blessings
Come few and far between
Rain seldom showers
In a dry and thirsty desert.
Any meal I get is a miracle for me
Joy arrives when my belly is full again
So why should favor be shared
Only to me when so many starve?
Decency is a priced out thing
A convenience rarely given
Sorrow and suffering are twin faces
Worn by too many in a lonely land.
