Seasons Drama

SEASONS DRAMA

October skies paint the pinkest fires
at the world’s edge,
low clouds pass
in flames of dragons breath.
Autumn leaves lose God
-made hues
in bunches sure to slide
down slopes of silt. And January
has the coldest winds with icy
tongues that lick the clearest
shallow springs,
scattering ducks
& shattering glass surfaces.

Oh! There are delicate
snowflakes lingering on
Ariel’s summer-sweet smile
that I long for
so enthused by spring’s portending,
embraced by lilac
-scented air
awkward whimsy, standing hairs
I seal our fate with a kiss
as April’s first Robin returns
& struts its blood-orange breast
pecking worms on the freshest
blades of sweet bluegrass.

About this poem

This poem was written this month (August) and has gone through many revisions and iterations in the last three weeks as I ponder the fierce changes in our climate while longing for nature as it's been for a millennium at the same time I met someone new whom I adore.
